What kindergarden offers your child

Early childhood learning theorists acknowledge the necessity of a child-based learning environment, therefore the learning experiences that make up the program are all based on play and the concept that children are much more receptive to learning when it has purpose and is meaningful and relevant to children.

All programs are planned and implemented by trained kindergarten teachers with the support of a skilled assistant. The curriculum content reflects the interests and abilities of the children and provides experiences and learning opportunities in a range of areas where children are encouraged to collaborate, including language and literacy, numeracy, science, nature and the environment, fine and gross motor skills, music, drama, social and creative expression.

The curriculum is underpinned by the National Early Years Learning Framework and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. A positive attitude, of self-respect, initiative, negotiation, co-operation, appreciation of beauty, commitment, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm, independence, integrity, tolerance and respect of others are all important attitudes promoted in the program.

Art Program 2019

The art program will run every Friday in the 4 year old groups. This program will be led by Annie Millsom, educator and artist.

This program aims to inspire and nurture creativity through the arts, working in collaborations with the four year old teaching professionals, the Victoria Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the National Quality Framework.

Participation in the Art program promotes the creative capacity of children to become creative thinkers, problem solvers and develop creative judgement. We hope that the program will help the children to increase their access and engagement with the arts, whilst providing a sense of social inclusion, feeling of ownership and connection to community.

Transition to School

As part of the school transition process, 4 year old groups may visit the local primary school with their kindergarten group, and have opportunities to experience the school environment first hand.
